Windows XP Support To Cease April 2014

Posted: 8th August 2013

As most people will have already seen in the press over recent months Microsoft have announced the ceasing of support for Windows XP.

Their official announcement* included these words "After 12 years, support for Windows XP will end on April 8, 2014. There will be no more security updates or technical support for the Windows XP operating system. It is very important that customers and partners migrate to a modern operating system...".

This has been in the wind for some time but as it is now official it does make sense for any business - including WYSdom's - to look at the age of their computer equipment and what operating system they are using.

If you are using XP the chances are that your hardware is at least three or four years old and as this is the typical business life expectancy it's time to look at an upgrade.

As with all these annoucements there are many doom-mongers saying that the World will end - remember the Millenium Bug? But safe to say, you just don't really know if those lovely hacker people will target XP systems so if you really want to be secure you do need to upgrade. The choice of course is yours.

If you are a WYSdom customer we highly recommend upgrading to be on the sfe side so if you want to discuss the options give the sales line a call. An upgrade will also give you much improved speed if you hardware is more than three or four years old too, improving the whole system for you and your staff.
